What’s being decided?

Local governments in South Australia are increasingly offering design advisory services to proponents in varying formats.

To help establish consistent approach across the state, we are creating a new Local Design Review Scheme which sets out the requirements for councils wishing to provide Local Design Review within their communities, as well as independent Design Review providers.

We want your feedback on the draft Local Design Review Scheme, which includes details of the requirements and Local Design Review process. We have created a Consultation Guide which summarises the scheme and will help inform your feedback.

Progression of the Scheme will be guided by feedback received through this engagement process.

How can your input influence the decision?

Your input will help to refine and finalise the Local Design Review Scheme for South Australia.

What are the next steps?

The Scheme will be updated by ODASA and then provided to the Minister for Planning for approval to become operational. 

It is envisaged the final Local Design Review Scheme will come into operation with the Phase 3 Planning and Design Code.

The finalised Local Design Review Scheme will be accompanied by a guide that will be designed to support councils and independent providers who register to carry out Local Design Review.
